Christmas is one of my favourite times of the year and I love
Christmas decorations. So I thought to combine that passion with iCraft
products to create this simple decoupage Christmas bauble for my first December design team project.

First lightly sand the foam ball all over then apply iCraft
white gesso and let dry. I then applied a layer of Autumn Valley iCraft chalk
paint all over and let it dry. I used some Christmas paper napkins I had in my
stash of Cardinals and trimmed the images to fit on the balls centrally. I then
separated the layers of tissue until I was only left with the image on the top
most layer. I then applied a layer of gel medium and layered the printed tissue
image on top. I brushed more gel medium over the top carefully so the tissue
adhered well to the foam ball well and let it dry.
I then used some paper clay and moulds from my stash to
create the raised seams, top and bottom elements for the bauble. I adhere them
to the bauble with strong quick setting glue. Once dried, I brushed it with a
thin layer of gesso. After this layer had dried, I sponged the Autumn valley
pain over all the raised elements and around the edges of the tissue image so
it blended better with the other parts of the bauble.
Once it dried, I applied iCraft metallic wax in Gold Rush over the raised elements with my fingers. What a beautiful distressed antique finish it gave to my bauble. I then finished it with a bauble pin cap and some ribbon before it went on my tree.
I’m hoping to inspire you to try this simple project for Christmas!
